Support west colfax lampstand's refugee Housing assistance Program

In December 2022, Denver experienced a surge of asylum-seekers arriving and needing housing and support services. West Colfax Lampstand will provide housing for 5-6 families, working to fundraise enough money to provide a group of asylum-seekers with 6 months of rental assistance to help get established and settled. This involves on-boarding, supporting, and beginning integration services for ~30 folks. We are providing a fully furnished and move-in ready apartment unit with weekly food distribution and other support services to partner with these families and other agencies in this line of work.  

Ways to Support:

• Financially support rental assistance w/501c3 donation

• Volunteer to help assist individuals integrating into the community. Spanish speakers needed especially.

West Colfax Lampstand has partnered with African Community Center and Colorado Hosting Asylum Network to support refugees and asylum-seekers in their transition into Denver. Our efforts focus on providing housing, along with important community connections that can help individuals entering into our neighborhood from out of the country to overcome barriers. We come alongside them to provide for a smoother integration into the local setting.  That can take many forms and often involves our friends describing their needs as we listen and attempt to engage and provide wrap-around support to help them achieve whatever objective that might be. Some examples include: getting a drivers license, hanging out over meals and working on English skills, filling out job applications, setting-up phones and energy bills, driving individuals to appointments, making community connections,  registering kids for school, translating emails and communications, buying cars, opening bank accounts, and much, much more.
